Cover-Up in Sanctuary

Though the town of Sanctuary is no stranger to death and destruction, it is known for defending its people from such rather than subjecting them to violence. But at what cost has it come by this reputation?

While Sanctuary’s illustrious Mayor, the war hero Aeolus, appears to be of a most upright moral standing, not all within seem to share his noble ideals. An Inanis under his watch murdered a young Warden, Willow, for reasons unknown. While the punishment did not quite fit the crime, in this reporter’s opinion, the Mayor dealt with the matter in a professional manner.

However, the reluctance on the Mayor’s part to let the details of this murder be made public are most worrisome. Worse still, a citizen of Sanctuary, one Tarik, assured this reporter that no true murder had happened at all. Instead, he claimed there was a misunderstanding over an animal being killed! A less thorough reporter might have accepted this person’s word as truth, particularly with other citizens backing up this story. However, it was clearly an attempted to cover-up the actual murder that had occurred. The question, dear readers, is why?

While, thank the Great Tree, young Willow managed to return from her death and Mayor Aeolus handled the punishment, what is to stop any murder from being covered up by the citizens of Sanctuary? Does perhaps, this beacon of hope, have a dark underbelly it is hiding? Can we truly trust Sanctuary has the interests of its people at its heart? We can only hope that true heroes, such as the Mayor and others such as the great Legionnaire Lucian, will continue to be a source of light and hope within Sanctuary.
