Recently, after dealing with a group of Red Legion attackers, we came upon a few Sha’ir vessels that were no longer needed by the previous owners. Upon looking at the craftsmanship, I recognized them as the work of a former traveling merchant who used to come by Sanctuary before the Cataclysm. He was an associate of the one known as Freed One, and his work on vessels was just as much a statement of craftsmanship as it was functionality. The design itself held the basics as any other vessel…a holding place of sorts for a Djinn who worked with the Sha’ir who wielded it. The construction of it was completed with a single black gem mounted somewhere on the vessel as a type of focus for both the magitech construction and the raw power of the Djinn that flowed through it.
Some of the builders of vessels kept in mind the more practicality and function of the vessel itself, while a few focused on putting their own craftsmanship into it, making truly individualized pieces of work. I was now wielding two of them. Attuning them to my abilities, these vessels actually had a unique way of projecting their power a bit further than other vessels. It was not revealed to me, but I may have a hint it is a show of respect by the Djinn inside to the workmanship and devoted time the original craftsman put into the vessels. I fully intend to use them well, and with respect and deference to the one who made them.
Eventually, hopefully when all of this passes us, and we are living in better times, I can give these pieces of art a resting place worthy of display of them for future generations.
For now, however, I need to use them for the purpose they were designed for…and I will wield them in honor and respect of their creator.
