Going over some old scrolls and texts, I came across some old proposals for organizations that existed in the past for Sanctuary. Some of these, in a sense already exist in the town, but others may warrant another look. Anyone that currently resides in Sanctuary may have a say in this, and if necessary, we can put this to a vote at this or a future gathering. Currently, the Mayor is considered a member of all of these organizations, but others may join any as they wish (even multiple).
The listing, description, and current observations for each is as-follows:
- Law Keepers – Responsible for investigation and enforcement of Sanctuary’s laws. This applies to anyone within the town/city limits (we currently do not officially have this).
- Militia – Responsible for overall defense of Sanctuary from threats outside the town/city. All citizens are considered members of the militia and may be activated if the need arises. (we have this in-place, its doesn’t have an official title for many of our current residents)
- Scouts – Work on advanced reconnaissance and aid the militia and law keepers in appraising any threats approaching Sanctuary. (does not currently exist as an organization)
- Trade Guild – Works with all gatherers/crafters to come together and discuss/trade their wares and better techniques to ply their tradecrafts. (again, doesn’t currently exist, but may warrant looking into for Sanctuary)
- Apothecary – This will act as a form of medical aid/hospital organization for those in need of assistance. (individual priests and alchemists currently work as this unofficially)
- Divine Council – This is for the followers of the various religions to come together and help one another, exchange information, and settle differences together. (does not currently exist)
- Arcanus – This is for the followers of magic casting and spell weaving to combine their knowledge and resources if-needed. (again, not in existence currently)
- Ambassadors – These individuals will work with organizations out of Sanctuary in an effort to improve relations. Can also help with official ceremonies/meetings in Sanctuary (used to have some under the Accords, but not recently)
- Treasury – The allocation and protection of the town’s wealth is handled by the treasury. Town developmental needs can be addressed here as-well. Any citizen can donate to the Treasury at any time. (we have this in a very informal way right now)
Sanctuary is still growing, and new faces are making an influx on a regular basis now. I felt that we as a whole should at least look at this and decide if this is something we wish to look at, work with, or modify.
