The Imperial Province of Ralicus
Ralicus is mostly ancient magical jungle, with some limited coastal and border ‘civilization’ along the eastern edge and coastal areas of the Province. It is a land divided between the Empire of Tellairus and the native populations who dwell hidden deep within the ancient trees of the highly magical forests in the western part of the province.
The Empire seeks to harvest the powerful magical components from within the forests. The native residents who dwell there generally seek to prevent this from happening and to protect their homeland from those who would pillage it of all they hold sacred.
Most ‘true Imperials’ in Ralicus are former military who were posted at the forts along the forest edges in the south eastern part of the province and chose to remain after their military careers were completed. To the standards of the rest of the Empire, Ralicus is barely civilized at all and think of it as a place only for the bold or the adventurous. Nevertheless, the high standards of Imperial roads and schools are maintained here on the fringes of the Empire.
In contrast, the native peoples rarely venture out of the jungles to the northwestern side of Ralicus, though some border villages will come to the forts to trade from time to time. These people are essentially Imperial by law, but vary in culture dramatically from their neighbors. There are no good roads into the deeper jungles so most natives here travel by water among the intricate network of bayous and rivers that feed the lush forests.
There are rumors that some of the first Effigy created in Dominus escaped to the deepest parts of the Ralican forests and still dwell in its shadows to this day. Few are brave enough to seek them out in the dense overgrowth and those who have tried have not returned, so it is unclear if this is truth or myth.
