The Imperial Province of Dominus
Dominus, also known as simply the Capital Province, is home to the Imperial City, the Emperor’s Palace (or what remains of it since the Cataclysm), and the Senate.
Ringed with steep cliffs along the eastern and southern sides, Dominus is naturally well positioned for defense. In the early history of Karn, it could not be raided by see and thus managed to horde power and wealth with little concern for it being taken from them.
The Imperial City sits just inland from the southeast cliffs overlooking the sea. When the conditions are just right, with the aid of a good telescope, one can sometimes make out the shimmer of the Great Seal from the highest of the towers that survived the earthquakes and fires during the Cataclysm. The Senate has plans to rebuild, of course, but the damage was extensive. Dominus remains the center of all trade, government, and culture within the Empire of Tellairus, despite it’s recent hardships.
Somewhere below the Imperial Palace, some believe there is an entire underground city of Revenants. The fanciful among them beleive the Emperor’s passage to the Great Seal’s Gate lies within that city, protected by ancient warriors.
The status of the Undying Legion in the barracks below the Imperial place and their fabled city, Ossugeum Imperatoris, has not been made public. Residents of Dominus generally do not like to think of the Revenants at all, so many simply choose to beleive the city under the palace is a myth, so there was nothing to destroy. Most Imperials living outside of Dominus have not even heard rumors of such a place. If it ever existed, it is a very old secret that has been obscured by the passing centuries.
The people of Dominus, above all else, are proud of their achievements in magitech and believe all humans should strive to be more like Dominus, which stands as a shining example of modern civilization.
