The town of Sanctuary will hold elections to select a new Mayor at the next Gather. For those new to Sanctuary, the title of Mayor does not grant the elected Mayor impunity to the will of the people, but rather confirms that person has been entrusted with the authority to lead the other Denizens, down the long and winding path to prosperity.
The Mayor may perform such duties as updating the Town Charter, signing contracts on behalf of the town, and negotiating with representatives of other groups outside of Sanctuary. This is a position calls for a person who is among the most trustworthy, well-spoken, and honorable of Denizens. With these things in mind, all Denizens are encouraged to consider and discuss potential Candidates in preparation for the upcoming election.
Nominees will be accepted on the first evening of the Gather until noon on the second day. Voting will take place beginning that afternoon and polls will close shortly after the Feast begins, to allow all Denizens the opportunity to vote. Votes will be counted and the winner will be announced during Feast, after which the new Mayor will assume their role and begin the guide the direction of the town.
Further details of the election process, please see the board in the Tavern beginning on the first evening of the Gather. The Ballot Roster will be available there as well, so that nominations can be made as Denizens arrive at the Gather.
